Am I eligible for breast enlargement surgery on the NHS?

I know I’m only 16 years old and I have plenty of time change my mind loads of times (which I most likely will), but I was wondering if it would be possible for me to have breast enlargement surgery on the NHS.
See, a couple of years ago, I suffered with an eating disorder, which I believe has stopped the growth of my breasts (they’re the same size they were 4 years ago). I’ve gained a lot of weight, but none of the weight has shifted to my chest in the whole two years that I’ve been better.
I realise that they could grow a lot in the next 2-4 years, but if the circumstances stayed the same, do you think I’d be able to get something done on the NHS?

It’s very unlikely I’m afraid. They would class it as cosmetic surgery and refuse you point blank.

I have recurrent cysts (in a place that for a woman is pretty embarrassing) and I was twice refused an op to get them removed. The reason they gave for refusing me was that they were cutting back on the number of unnecessary operations. Even though they cause me significant physical and emotional pain when they flare up, and every time one comes and goes it also leaves a scar, they still just classed it as cosmetic surgery, and I’m positive that they would say the same to you. By all means ask your GP but I’m sure he/she’d tell you the same thing. Having small breasts (whatever the cause) may be having a negative impact on you emotionally, but physically you are not at risk of illness/death so an operation to enlarge them, for the NHS would be a waste of public money.

With the NHS desperately trying to claw back the millions of pounds it has overspent, I’d fall off my chair if they said they would do this for you. Sorry to be so pessimistic but don’t get your hopes up.

Your best bet if you really want to have breast enlargement surgery, is to earn and save enough money to pay for it yourself.

You’ll probably find that over time your breasts change quite a bit. I’m 24 now (time has just flown since I was 16) and mine have changed more than I thought they would! There’s more to life than boobs hun, try not to worry about them too much
